Mary A. Alonso pivoted from senior level roles in fashion management to academia, where she prepares future industry leaders. Prior to joining the Savannah College of Art & Design (SCAD) as Professor of Fashion Marketing & Management, she led turnarounds for multimillion dollar businesses. Nordstrom, Spiegel Brands, Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s are among the companies where she has left her mark.

Ms. Alonso knows fashion retail from the selling floor to the web. With expertise in business analytics and marketing to merchandising and product development, she understands how the synergies of customers, product, promotions and processes drive strong financials. She continues to consult.

Prior to joining the New York Fashion Tech Lab (NYFTL) Expert Network she supported women in the footwear industry as a Mentor in TwoTen’s Women in Footwear Industry (WIFI) Mentor program. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for EDsnaps, a non-profit committed to “Increase diversity in the STEM workforce” and “Inspire global STEAM learners to become global STEAM leaders”.

Ms. Alonso holds an M.B.A. in Marketing from Pace University and a B.A. in Psychology from Douglass College (Rutgers University).
