SID MOOKERJI
Sid Mookerji is the Founder and Managing Partner of Silicon Road Ventures, an early-stage Venture Fund making investments into US startups that focus on tech for commerce enablement. Sid is also the Founder of the Silver Spirit Global LLC Family Office which, among other investments, operates tech parks in the US and India. Sid’s contributions to business, entrepreneurship, and the city of Atlanta have been celebrated by induction into the Kennesaw State’s Coles College Hall of Fame and recognition as an Entrepreneurial Leader in the Southeast USA by TechBridge.
Prior to this, Sid was co-founder and CEO of Software Paradigms International (SPI), a company that provided technology solutions to retail businesses on five continents. In September 2016, after 22 years at the helm, Sid stepped down as CEO. SPI was eventually acquired by IT giant Cognizant.
Recipient of an Honors degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science in India, and an MBA from Emory’s Goizueta Business School, Sid began his career managing multi-sourced portfolios in India’s offshore industry. While observing IT processes and the onshore/offshore dynamic, he identified an opportunity to improve the Global Delivery Model with tightened process management and tools that enable transparency.
In 1994, Sid founded SPI in Atlanta and began providing forward-thinking, streamlined tech services and solutions to retailers worldwide. When Sid left the company, SPI had completed 14 acquisitions and had over 3000 employees in eight countries offering tech services and products to 350+ retailers, e-commerce, and CPG companies such as Macy’s, Saks, Walmart, P&G and Groupon.
Sid and SPI received several awards celebrating success and growth in the US and India. Under his direction, SPI won the Pacesetter Award (fastest growing companies in Atlanta) and was a Georgia Fast40 firm for several years in a row. The Indian government awarded SPI the Excellence in IT Exports award every year from 2008 to 2016. Other awards include the Atlanta Business Magazine’s list of Top Ten Fastest-Growing Companies and USPACC awards.
Silicon Road Ventures, founded in 2019 has two funds and has invested in over two dozen startups across the US so far, with a focus on Atlanta and the Southeast.
Apart from business pursuits, Sid and his family support philanthropies in the United States and India through the Mookerji Foundation. Projects include supporting relief efforts for victims affected by hurricanes and earthquakes. The Mookerji Foundation also supports Atlanta organizations such as Sewa International, Shepherd Center, TechBridge, and TIE. In 2016, the Mookerji Foundation made a $1 million gift to the Georgia Tech Foundation to establish a retail tech innovation program. A large gift has also established the “Mookerji Innovation Fund” at Kennesaw State University. Additionally, several social projects continue to be funded in India.
